Philosophy / Education
Smart soldiers are good soldiers. This is the principle of the city state regarding education; however, philosophy is important in regard to domestic events. The Aresians believe that it can be used to resolve all problems, however they do not often use their philosophical views when dealing with foreigners because they deem them unworthy of the advanced solution. The citizens of Aresia do not take philosophy as seriously as other city states in Greece might, but they believe that citizens of Aresia can think outside the box and provide insight into unknown topics. In contrast, in order to strive in the naval and military forces, male and female citizens of the city state should attend school for at least 12 years. This education system is rather rigorous with the mission to educate young Aresians in a stable environment based upon ones needs. After the 12 year mark, the male citizens must start their military training so that they may enroll in the military/naval force. Additionally, the male citizens focus on battle conventions during their schooling while the women focus on everyday skills for home-life and, depending on the state of battle, battle strategies. The woman take their leave for education at the age of 13 so that they can prepare to work around the home. After the mandatory education is complete, the women carry on with housework for the remainder of their lives while the men may choose to serve in the military until the age of 65.
